Title: silicone question
dtroup2 - May 14, 2006 12:34 AM (GMT)
I need to re-seal the top 6 inches of my tank.
I have 100% silicone rubber is this safe to use?
Never Mind. I checked it out on True Value's web site and they said that TV012A is fine for use in aquariums but to wait 24-48 hours before adding fish to be safe.
At $3.79 a tube I wanted to make sure before I opened it, and I don't want any more setbacks on this tank.

Tip, when they say "well ventilated" they MEAN it!

Yes they do, the curing agen in silicone is acetic acid, also known as vinegar!

I did 4 strips between 6-8 inches long and was stoned for about 2 hours without :joint:
I have a headache today from it.
That is some nasty stuff.

So how do I get rid of this damn headache?
It feels like it's gonna explode.
I've tried tylenol and ibuprofin and a nap, no luck.

get outside into the fresh air. that and a bit of a nap usually helps me. i would also suggest a bit of the sweet leaf as well.

 Of those three the only one I hadn't tried was the fresh air, I did and it helped some. I think what helped the most was :joint:

I appreciate the help and the headache is getting better.
I tend to be more sensitive to fumes due to health issues. :pft:
It is an excelent excuse to indulge in the sweet leaf though, although I don't really NEED an excuse it is convienant to have one.
