Title: Driftwood issues
Description: split from "tank stand"

I'm having some issues with my driftwood................. it's drifting north!
I have the tank 3/4 full but I need to get my lights up, right now they are sitting on the tank and the bulbs are under the level where the water is supposed to be, and I have to get the driftwood to stay down.
I'm currently taking suggestions as to sinking the wood.

was your driftwood water logged before you put it in? if not its probly gunna do that. next time i make a new drift wood peice i'm goin to glue it to a slate base that gets berried under the substrate, it won't go anywhere then.
trouble with yours is you've already layed the substrate.
i'd try water logging the drift wood then put it in. it just means it'll postpone the setup for a while. :bitchslap:

I'm considering tieing it to some pieces of sandstone, possibly with heavy guage ground wire. The only catch is if I need to drill the rocks and what copper will do to the tank paramaters.

Skip the copper and go with cable ties.

I was afraid that copper might be an issue, I guess I get to go dig through the tool boxes and find the zip-strips. :pft:

:shh: Have you been talking to my Hubby?
It turns out that I also need some silicone. :pft:
It was 3/4 full all day and no problems but when I brought the level up to within 2 inches of the top the seam leaked. :banghead: :cuss: :cuss:
:omg: It took a lot less time to drain it down to 1/2 than it did to fill the damn thing.
:badmood:

Hubby came up with this thought.
Take a piece of PVC with capsfor both ends and weigh it down by filling it with rocks or large nuts. Then bury it in the substrata and tie the driftwood to it.
Has anyone tried this and does it sound like it will work?
