Title: Lost a Kuhli
Description: no aparent reason

dtroup2 - June 1, 2006 03:30 AM (GMT)
I was showing my mom my 55gal and discovered that one of my kuhlis was dead, he was wedged up under a piece of driftwood and an air stone.
I didn't see any marks on him, he was just faded like they do when they die. The only fish in the tank were 4 kuhlis, the other 3 look fine.

He mustov got stuck and it did internal damage or he rested there untill he died. =\ The nitrates could've done something to him as well...but if the rest aren't dying off...nitrates really aren't the problem.

He was the smallest one I had, less than an inch long and he was wedged under the driftwood pretty tightly.
Maybe he was just too small to handle the cycling process?
Like I said the other 3 seem to be fine, I even see them occasionally.

just got stuck i'd say, once you get more in there they'll be ALOT more active.

Well I lost another one :rip: this one was also under some driftwood. I pulled the remaining two out of the 55 along with all the Endlers that I put in there today and put everything in the 10 gal which hasn't had any deaths.I'm going to let the 55 run empty for a while and see what the test strips have to say.

i would remove the driftwood, do you have the tank planted? make it so they cant get trapped under anything. When i had more of them in a planted tank they LOVED curling up and playing in the plants, i kept nothing that could move or bind them in.

i doubt the nitrates or ph is to blame, its within the specs i kept my previous setup at...and the nitrates in the tank i have my remaining khuli loach in is more then that.
