Was fishing off the rocks today, havin a bit of trouble identifying this fish......
Looks like a cod or groper of some sort???

Hubby thinks it's a red tail snapper.
Cool fish though, whatever it is!

No i follow a catch and realease policy, mainly due to the fact i dont eat alot of fish.
Im still stumped as to what it is though, maybe a few of u OZ members might know??

Nice catch! It looks like a snapper of some sorts...but I've never seen anything like it. :dunno:

Definatly not snapper, not an australian snapper anyways.
Its a bad pic because the body of the fish looks grey black in the the pic but it was greenish with iredescent red speckles on it. I caught it off a headland i always go to and have never seen anything like it
