 ok, so, as some of you know, i was having trouble with the filteration with my pond, and, well, here is my DIY filter (pics soon to come.).

things you'll need

1 plant basket (the ones you buy at lowes)
1 swamp cooler filter pad (the size depending on how big the pump)
(umm, i don't know how much to say, so, how ever much you think you should buy :P) carbon(spelling?)
and then what ever pump you have. (i have 3, two in the bottom pool, that are doing a mixture of 1.9 thousad gallons an hour, and a 350 GPH, and one power head on the top most pool for filteration) (as you will see as soon as i get the pics)

get your plant basket, swamp cooler pad, cut the diiameter of your basket plus a few CM to get a little over lap so the carbon dosn't fall out the side, pour ont bit of carbon on this pab (remember to rinse the carbon before using this filter) and then cut another pad a little smaller that the bucket sixe, and set ontop of the one you just put the carbon in, next, put int another stage (i used white diamond ammonia- Nuteralizing crystals, but you could use more carbon if you wanted) of carbon (or w/e you want to nutralize) and, then finnaly cut one more peice of filter pad, and, place it over that last bit you did. put the pit take pipe of your pump into the basket, and watch your pond get cleaner. (it was worked for me, with limited results, but, the water is better.

as i say, pics should be here tomorrow some time. tell me what ya think of my home made filter for my pond, and what i can do to make it better.

(this is a rip off canister filter w/o the bioballs :D i plan on making a canaister filter for it next, i mean, upgrade it so it has the bioballs, and some more filter pads that will clean out the smaller debreis. (spelling?)

Cool Tyler, can't wait for the pics!
Did you use the straw or plastic fibered swamp cooler filter pads?

It is so cool to be able to talk to someone who knows what a swamp cooler is  people up here don't believe that you can cool the air by adding moisture to it.

Even the big home improovement stores don't have a clue what a swamp cooler pump is, when I asked for one at Home Depot they looked at me like I just landed from Mars or somthing.

umm, it was a blue pad, made of some sort of fiber, but not straw.

yeah, i wish that we had a real A/C, but, we have a little window unit in my bedroom, and then a swamp cooler for the rest of the house, i feel so loved :P
