Title: Financing or Buying Used???
Description: I need your Opinions
vTEC - July 20, 2006 03:18 AM (GMT)
Well I need a car... yes NEED a car..
I've asked so many people whether or not financing (NOT LEASING) would be better than buying a used vehicle.. because I know that I'm the ONLY owner of the vehicle and not worrying about whether or not the engine will blow up a month down the road.
I have heard both negative and positive feedback with Financing
I was looking at a 2006 Hyundai Accent... 260 a month which is peanuts.. then whatever my insurance would be plus the gas etc...
SO help me out... GIVE ME YOUR OPINIONS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!

IMO if you can afford to get it cash without borrowing money do it that way less debts the better! But it also give you an advantage if ur good with ur payments and when the time comes to get a house or another loan if they see u paying ur loan off appropiately it will be easyier for u to get accepted. If you need a car and there is no way of getting the money and by the time u save up you 30yrs old then go finance. But if you do go finance just make sure you do ur home work before going through with anything such as if u can afford the repayments, etc etc.If ur not good with ur money and dont want ppl chaseing u dont get a loan :) hope i helped.

I think i totally answered the opposite of ur question :shy:
So...again imo its better to get used cars! Brand new cars are a waste of money imo. 1. More problems with new cars as they havent been warn in 2.as soon as u drive away u have lost around $5000+. With used cars they have been warn in and most of the times the problems they did have has been fixed. So ill go with buying a good condition car 2nd hand! Thats what i did with my Holden Astra...

Also.... you can always re-finance after about a year. When i got my car my repayments were $400 a month and i have re-financed it now for $190 a month. So if u can stick it out for around a yr there are always options later. There are many options. Good luck in finding the one for you :)

Thanks Nici..
I know the finance payments on the Accent are around 260 a month... And I also know about losin the 30% as soon as you drive it off the lot...
I can afford the payments on the financing.. just im not too sure about wat my insurance would be like per month either.
And also... standard or automatic?? I want standard.. i know the basics.. just not to good at driving yet... :P

Why not look for a brand new 2nd hand car? you will save $1000's and not have to worry about all the problems new cars get and it will also come with warrenty as well. IMO I would never buy a brand new one, kinda waste of money really.

Just depends really. A lot has to do with needs. I would suggest research as new and old cars alike can have issues. why not do a search online about the cars that interest you, this way you can get a consensus of how it does for others.
I'm not sure if you have enough to buy a decent used car outright or if you would have to finance that as well..

Just remember that if you are financing they usually require you to carry full coverage insurance which is somthing to consider when figuring out your budget, full coverage is much higher than liability.
