Vip - July 31, 2006 09:10 AM (GMT)
Well, I just heard it on the radio that the American giant is comeing to Aus to battle K-mart and Target. So tell us whats walmart like and what do they stock?
Fuzzyfish - July 31, 2006 01:33 PM (GMT)
They stock everything from what I hear...

Oh man, that is cool. I love Wal-Mart. Most of them around here are supercenters. They sell everything from groceries, clothes, and household things. Plus some around here have a place to change tires and oil for your cars. The one where I lived at before had a McDonalds, a place to get your hair done, movie rental spot, vision center and bank in it. They are really nice.

do what ever you can to now buy shit from that store, it is all made in china, nothing is over priced ( a good thing, but you are getting what you pay for.)they over stock their aquariums, and have dead fish floating in the aquarium, and not do any thing about it, the only thing i would considder buying from they would be auto parts, they have sa great pollicy on batteries (spelling?) they will take them back and give you a new one for free if it's within 3 years.
don't go to china*mart, it's the worst store, target, i would say is a little better.....lol.

I LOVE Wal-mart...it's sooo much better then K-mart. But they have their live fish section...which tends to be a disaster...Are you guys getting super Wal-marts or just regular Wal-marts?
glaive - July 31, 2006 08:06 PM (GMT)
Keep in mind you get what you pay for. Shop smart and it's okay.

china*mart deserves to die along with all fast food chains, us americans need to become more independent, and less dependient on speed, eat better food, organic food mind you, stop going to stores that buy products that have been produced in china, or, are abusing the product (food i mean, KFC was/is sadi place that buys abused products, look it up.) china*mart is a bad place to buy any thing as i said, i will ask around for the information that backs this. (hope i can find it soon)

i dont think they'll do well here...walmart are institutionalised in america and went to them a little while i was in florida and buffalo, they'll test the waters and find they cant keep up with the tried and tested stores here.
They had some ok deals, but thats only because the good they sold are cheaper to begin with in america...not here.

Walmart is a beast, there is only one market they have failed to infiltrate.
Hell they sell chinese stuff to the chinese.

I admit that I have seen some absolutly disgusting fish set-up's at some Wall Marts, however I have seen a few Wal-mart fish departments that were very clean and relativly disease free with knowelegable staff. One that stands out in my mind never had dead fish, there were 4 people who worked it and nobody elce was permitted to mess with any of the livestock. The head of the department was an avid fishkeeper and knew her shit, and one of the conditions of her taking the job was that she picked her staff and she chose well and trained them in whatever they didn't know.
As for the rest of the stuff they stock you just have to pay attention, they do carry some good stock but they also carry some super light weight shit that you can tell by looking at it, it ain't gonna last long.
I do a lot of shopping at Wall-mart, anything from grocerys to office supplies to car stuff, and they allways have some kind of candy on sale.

well, go to local, or natural, or organic shoppe, it increses their production rate, and there for, more places will start buying their products, there is only ONE chain restarunt that buys only organic and natural foods in AZ, ONLY ONE.
but, i am only 15, and there for, i know nothing about echological problems. yay, sterotypes!!  :jk:
have a good one guys.

I'm not disputing your opinions Tyler, I'm simply stating mine, and the question was about our opinions of Wall-mart.
I personally have nothing against organics, however I usually can't find or afford them as a general rule. Organic foods are just not a high priority for me, and I'm too old and set in my ways to decide to change, LOL.
And by the way, I saw a show a while back that doccumented how wall mart tries to get American made products whenever possible, they have helped several people get their businesses off the ground so that the people can produce american made products for wall-mart to sell. They have scholorship programs, and they are kown for improoving fishing and other recreational areas. One more thing in the plus column for Wal-Mart..........they were the first on the sceen when Katrina hit.

well, i found that website, that helps you prevent the coming of
wal-mart it is the battle plan that you can take on to keep ot from comming, www.walmartwatch.com it the web address i beleive, just look around it, and see what good/bad they do.
lol dorothy, i know, thats why i said :jk: :) this is a free discution after all.
and for the price of organic foods, it is only more expencive because there isn't a big enough market for it, so, the more people that buy it, the cheeper it gets.
there in lie a fact, wal-marts stuff is cheap, because they have the free trade agreement (sp?), which allows them if i am not mistaken, allows them to have free shipping form chine/mexico/and where ever elce they dicide to ship their 'goods' to be mass produced in a 'slave' factory, where they get less that a doller an hour, or am i mixing that up, is it a doller a day?? yeah, they get their stuff made cheaply, there for, most of it is cheap, 'sept their automotive stuff.......only thing i will allow my parents to buy from them.
now that i have posted more than any one, i will let it go. :P
have a nioce day guys.
