Title: New FOWLR (Fish Only)
mr_miagi32 - August 4, 2006 09:40 AM (GMT)
Ok, so i havnt posted these pics in a while. The planted tank is no more, and now ive got 2 marine tanks! :boxer: :eatit:

Filling with RO water took a while LMAO! :S

Completed, filled to the right SG and with a fine layer of aragonite!
:drool1: The skimmer wasnt staying there, as it was only pulling some crud out of the water from the sand.

I drove all the way to BUrra, a 3 hour drive, in my holidays. A mate i KNow from RTAW (roop) was giving away alot of stuff to good homes, so I took some LR and some fish! :D Around $1200 dollars worth for free! :omg: :omg: :omg: :omg:
:winner:
Completed!

Fish are a pair of
A. Akindynos, and 3 Chromis! :P

And the clowns shifted a SHIT LOAD of my sand, and have really made a mess, heres the mound, created from an even 2cm layer around the whole tank! LMAO

Thanks for lookin!
:bye: Goodbye FW for an indeffinate period of time..... :bye:

 Beautiful setup!!
Just curious...what lighting do you have on it? I'm looking into converting my 29 gallon into saltwater.

Thanks Glaive, Dtroup and Shadow.
Shadow, ive only got one 30W T8 flouro on there. Probably not the best lighting for corals ATM, but they were stinging my other corals in my reef and I wanted them out. For a FOWLR, thats decent enough lighting though. For corals, you probably should have more than two T8 Flouros.

I have a fixture that holds two 60W PCs that was to be used for plants (but failed miserably). Is that enough light? Sorry...my knowledge on lights is quite rusty.

That would really suit a FOWLR, and you could even add lower light requiring corals like Mushrooms, Leathers, and Zoanthids! :drunk:
Thanks Cich!

That looks awesome!!!
The only thing I'd be cautious about is when your tank goes through the ammonia/nitrite/ate spikes... The clowns and corals and what not might not react to it as well as you'd hoped...
but that's not in all cases..
it islooking freaking sexy... i wish i had that much live rock :(
mr_miagi32 - August 6, 2006 12:37 AM (GMT)
The LR was mature, and I had no die-off, which was terrific, because I nowhere else to put the fish.
I tested the normal params, and no ammonia, no nitrite, 20ppm nitrate (if memory serves me correctly). So well within good range. I have life in the sand bed, and placed some of my beneficial worms from my Reef in the other week. Hopefully they will come away, but I have my doughts now the clowns messed with the sand bed.
I also have limpets on the glass, a mantis somewhere, crabs, hermits, flatworms, and macro growing well.
Thanks for your complements vTEC. The only thing I could suggest is joining a local reef club. You will always pick up bargains there, and its fun to meet people interested i the same things as you are.
