Title: Utah-Arizona?
Description: how do I??

FBG - August 12, 2006 04:19 AM (GMT)
i am going to Utah next week, and, i while i am their, i would like to buy some plants, that, i man not be able to buy here, and, i was just wondering, what i should put them in on the way home, and, if, taking them from Utah, to AZ is legal.

well, i would put them in a sealable bag, and have water in it, and shake the water around so the whole plant is wet every now and then, as for utah-arizona, unless its a wild caught plant, it shouldnt be illegal, after all its your "pet" plant, you can bring your "pet" dog across states, then why not "pet" plants?,

The packaging advice is sound, however the state line info might not be totally accurate. For example, one of the water flowers that is very popular and totally legal in NM is considered an invasive plant in MN and is illegal to buy, sell, possess or have shipped into the state.
Tyler, I would ask the people where you buy the plants about legality.

yeah you should

Tyler,
While there are a fair few nuiscance species of plant Arizona is more worried about illegal immigrants than an aquatic plant. Even if you got pulled over I highly doubt they spread mug shots of plants through all of law enforcement. I would package as others have already stated.

Youth this is wrong there are no dog breeds that have been banned in states, there are however a lot of plants that have. I only responded to Tyler in the manner that I have because I know him to be a responcible aquarist. It's okay to only answer the part of a question you are certain you know.

"responcible aquarist" wow, thank you for that, and, yes, they are more worried about that, but, i would rather be safe than sorry :)i tihnk i will ask the store assistant that is helping me about it....thanks for the advice.

Oh, and youth, plants aren't considdered 'pets' because they are plants, they aren't 'alive' so to speak, there for, they can be evasive, and kill out natural aquatic plants(the few that we do have, or the few that i have seen at any rate.)

I found this list that includes all banned plants (mostly land but including a few aquatic plants) http://plants.usda.gov/java/noxious?rptTyp...te&statefips=04

As for aquatic plants...this is all that I could find.

Asian Ambulia (Limnophilia sessiliflora)
Hygrophila, Green (Hygrophila polysperma)
Hygrophila, Tropic Sunset (Hygrophila rosanervis)
