hey! I have an applesnail in my aquarium and 3 ramshorn snail that hitched a ride on a plant. I just noticed a tiny transparent shell in the bottom of my tank. It doesnt seem to have the same shape as the other 2 species. It seems to be a spiral, and progresses sideways (does that even make sense?) any isea what it is? will it drown? any info that you think i may need would be appreciated. I didnt know which forum to ask this in- "community fish" was a stab in the dark. -i am new here. :?:

If it looks like a cone, it's probably a trumpet snail. :)

They like to burrow (a little bit) in the gravel, and I find they come out at night.

might be malaysian burrowing snails, they also burrow and come out at night

Trumpet snails = "Malaysian Trumpet Snails"

As Lemma n' Youth said...sounds like a Trumpet Snail. Great for planted tanks and are nocturnal. Really hard to kill off too...and they're aquatic snails so you don't have to worry about them drowning. ;)

thanks guys, do they have shells that are completly see through though? or is that how they are as babies? and so far it looks like an empty shell...does any of this make sense? thanks again:)

How big is it? All snails are transparent when they're tiny little babies. Couldn't be a dead snail's shell...they're are yellow or white...not transparent.

Any pics?
