Newbie here - so forgive me if my descriptions are not technically accurate...
I purchased two medium sized angelfish three days ago and when i got home, noticed that the larger of the two was missing most of one of his/her "arm" fins (kinda like Gil from 'Finding Nemo'). Is there anything I should do? He/she seems to be swimming pretty well.
He was the most social fish in the tank at the store, which is probably why I didn't notice. Both of them have pretty nipped up tails. From what I've read, they will regenerate - is this correct? Again - is there anything special I should do?
They are in a 29g tank with 3 leopard danios, 5 serpea tetras, 3 spotted corys, 2 dwarf gouramis, one rainbow shark and a clown loach (who is always hiding, so it's like he's not even there...).
Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!
Good water quality should be enough for them to grow back. You can choose to add melafix as a preventitive or even stress coat, but it should not be necessary.
Keep an eye on the Rainbow Shark...they are known for nipping fins and be a little aggressive twords shiney and long finned fish.
Thanks! The Rainbow doesn't seem to have much interest in the Angels as yet. I have seen him swim after the tetras, but they're kinda quick, so they get out of the way. If there is a problem, I do have another tank I can move him to.
The Angels spend a lot of time hanging out by the heater. I don't know if it's because it's a high, warm place or if they're just shy...the tank temp is around 80 degrees, so that should be high enough. Any thoughts?
They may just still be setteling in, do you know if they are a mated pair? Angels have been known to lay their eggs on uptake tubes.
