My beloved blue VT Pscho Phish was found on the bottom of his tank this morning, unable to rise.
He is in a two and half Gallon tank kept at 80 degrees F.He is feed 2betta bites in the morning and 4to6 Freeze dried bloodworms at night.Water changes are 25% a week.Complete tank change every 1to2 monthes as needed.
He was fine last night, but this morning he was on the bottom. So far all I've done is raise his temp a few degrees and remove the tank decorations so he wont hurt himself.
Entire family is Distraught.Any advice would be appreciated.

You should do 100% water changes every 4 days. I'd keep the temp around 80...changes in temp could stress out and kill him. Did you do a water change recently? I'd clean out his water and watch him for a few days. If you changed his water and he instantly started doing this...it means the water was either warmer and colder then the water he was presently in...sending him into shock. He could recover...or die. :(
And I wouldn't feed him bloodworms every day. An overload of protein in a Betta's diet causes swim bladder disorders. I'm not saying the worms are the source of the problem...it's just an idea.

His water changes are done Fridays like clockwork, though I did do one about 2hrs ago. With SBD should I fast him,and if so how long?Extreme care is taken with water temp.

It does'nt matter anymore. :rip:
I guess I should've mentioned he was 5 years old.

You should be proud that you got him to 5 years old, Bettas don't normally live that long and the fact that he did shows that he was well cared for. :rip:

Wow...5 years is amazing for a Betta! The longest I've kept em is at 3 1/2 years. He mustov lived a happy healthy life with you to live that long.
:rip: Sorry to hear about your loss though.

Over at the Fish Junkies forums we had an oldest betta contest and I didn't win. :cuss: The oldest entry was 6 1/2yrs owned by a breeder who had raised it from a fry.The really interesting thing was all the entries were Veil Tails.
