Title: Seahorses

Hi, now that I finally got a handle on my gsp tank. I now want to start a seahorse tank. I have been doing some reading and need help with this. Does anyone out there keep these things. If so, how hard are they to keep? What type of enviroment and foods do you feed them. Any advise would be great... Thanks

Was really wanting some help with this. I have been reading on the internet and I might have to wait on the seahorses. During the summer months we are gone alot and I am concerned about them being ok, when I am gone. My fish I have now can go a couple of days without food or care.

I think maybe I will start up a tank soon.. I hear that it has to be cycled well first- then maybe give it a go and see what happens. If they make it through winter then maybe I could get someone to feed them when were gone in the summer.

Do I need all the saltwater equiptment to keep seahorses. Right now I only have done brackish- pretty easy really.

I was thinking of a 10gal with like two dwarf seahorses? Would that work?

My other concern is food. I have little access to live food- live in nowhere land- so, would they be ok on frozen foods?

Help! Help! info on seahorses needed...

Hey, thanks for the reply. I don't think I will be doing seahorses anytime soon. But, the info is greatly welcome. Thanks again...

I had dwarf seahorses myself. It was a 10 gal. for 3. They are very cute and pretty- but high maintenance as any saltwater fish would be. and I definately wouldn't classify them as hardy- or for beginners.

Also- I know you asked about frozen foods- I've always hatched my own brine shrimp. You can get those really at any reputable pet store- I got mine at Petsmart. its just basically baby brine eggs that you'll hatch in a separate saltwater container- which is provided depending on which brand you buy. (Just the eggs or the whole kit), and everyone I know who works with seahorses always feeds live too- so I'm assuming that means frozen isn't the best.

whatever you decide to do in the future- if you choose to start a seahorse tank, or go another direction... best of luck! let us know how it goes!!
