:hmm: My highly personable male betta (Rainbow Fish) is not well at all. I admit to letting the tank get extremely dirty. The temp got to 62 in our new home so I did a complete water change, got a 2 1/2 gallon tank so am now heating it. I put a couple bits of aquarium salt and used bottled and conditioned water. There is no distress symptoms on his body. He is not eating or "visiting" with me anymore. The only time he moves is when he feels something set down on the table. He also takes a wild swim around the top of the tank once a day. I have been treating his tank with "Quick Cure" which treats Ick, Gasping for Air, Flicking against rocks, Protozoan Parasites, Mild Fluke, Costia, Chilodonella, and Trichodina. I feed his favorite food only to scoop out untouched. Help! He has been the coolest fish and I hope to save him if it's not too late.
Keep up what you're doing and hope for the best. pretty much all you can do.
He might just be adjusting to the change mainly, so try keeping his lights off.
:woo: Thanks for the "many" ahem replies. My local fish store owner of 26 years helped me out and my betta is doing remarkably well. Here's what he told me. Add 1 1/2 full teaspoons of aquarium salt to my 2 1/2 gallon tank, raise the temp to 80 degrees and DO NOT USE the Quick Cure meds, too harsh for his system. If needing to use meds use: BettaFix Remedy (much less invasive) He also gave me a new food, even though he would always gobble down the freeze dried blood worms I had. I fed him "hikari Betta Bio-Gold" the next morning. His sniffer went wild. So after one night of the new med and adding salt he was swimming about the tank and interested in this new food. He laid around and wouldn't eat for three weeks but now is back to normal. Never give up!
good to hear your betta has made a full recovery.
