Title: My First nano planted tank

FBG - December 9, 2006 06:53 PM (GMT)
Well, i just finnished my first 'nano' planted tank. The tank its self is 19 leaters, and it is an Italian beverage jar the box said, i picked it up for a small price of.....free from my store room. my mother bought it a while back, and never used it

my plant list so far consists of:
Narrow Leaf Chain Sword (Echinodorus tenellus)
Java fern
Crypt Sprialis
and, a smaller Python Sword.

and it will have maybe some amano shrimp, or one cherry shrimp, and, i think I'll add my lone female killie fish once it is cycled.

(pics soon to come)

EDIT: added some more information

Sounds good, I'd say add about 3 more killies, once it's cycled and female been there for a while...

Get some pics already!

Your 19 liter jar is 4.18gal. Here is a link for converting it.
Sounds like a cool little setup!

What kind of filtration are you using? I think a sponge filter powered by an air pump will do the trick as long as you keep up on the water changes.

Word of advice: Most Killifish will eat those shrimp.

...also I would stick to just a pair of killies in that tank...and certainly no more than one male. Try looking for Fundulopanchax species, they should breed easily for you in that set up. You may have to order eggs or juvies from online. If you are in the US google up the American Killifish Association, they have a lot of reputable sellers listed there.

Yeah on the pair on killies. I was tinking liters in gallons was around 3.65 per, not over 4
