thanks guys, I have him in a 55 gallon with my fasciatus , and they seem to be doing well together. He does usually stay at the top but at times he will just lay on the bottom and wait for food. All he will eat is live fish; he once tried to eat my 2" fahaka puffer, but realized he had bit off more than he could chew. The puffer inflated untill the gar released then deflated and chased the gar off nipping at his tailfin...pretty wicked to see. :D
