alot more than a 10gallon nano! :D
Id say a species aquarium with other similar sized predators like dwarf lionfish etc.
Maybe 60+gallon tank.

Maybe when I convert my 100g.
I will give him lots of space to "walk"

They are ambush predators, so they are quite in-active. But they apper to "walk"

where did you get that pic from DB?
OceanOracle - May 3, 2005 08:57 AM (GMT)
Definately not safe with dwarf lionfish. There was a photo of one of these fish eating a full sized volitan lion in a recent Marineworld article! Keep alone or with fish MUCH larger than thenselves as these fish can tackle other fish of almost the same size.

Have u got that pic handy? Cause i wanna see that! Depending on species, cause some are much smaller than others no?

How large of a tank do they need!
I got this pic from some other thread Vip.

Histrio Histrio
Sargassum Fish
Recommended minimum tank size is 30 gallon.
It gets to 6 inches in length. Its a preditory carnivore.
Spends a majority of its time lying in wait and them ambushing its prey.
It is reef safe but may eat ornamental shrimp in the reef tank.

Im working on it, unfortunately had a set back this past week end and wasnt able to get much done. If I can get a non-copy write photo I will be happy to research it and make it happen for you!

These types of fish are easily come by. There are 2 at my lfs (different species). I guess you would have to enquire as to the specific species of fish you want to see if they are available.
Ritsuko Nashida - May 4, 2005 02:20 PM (GMT)
As Nav says should be fairly easy top come by with a little persistance. There are several closely related species though and if you special order one make sure that you can thoroughly ID the one you want. Often times the List of available species from the Distributor that your LFS gets, leaves a lot to be desired for accuracy. Understand too that while you might want a "small" the distributor may only have large and substitute that, to the LFS. For example we have ordered small Clown Triggers and gotten in 8 inch monsters instead.

like they said 30 gallon minimum.
Will try to eat fish up to twice they're size.
And they can also eat themselves to death very easily.
Sorry about the short reply but im in a big hurry and im watching a screaming 1 and a half year old lol.
