Title: betta females

Hi all, as some may know my tank turned into auschwitz last month an so ive started again.
My question is does anyone know how long it takes for female bettas to swell with eggs, i only ask this cos i introduced a few to my tank fri afternoon an all looked pretty slim, but after what i presume is a little flirting an nipping with my new male, two have now pretty big bellys!
Do you reckon these little rascals are getting ready to bump tails!?

I'd say their preparing, but I would stop them right now. I wouldn't try going into betta breeding just yet. Unless you have a spare 300 dollars and are willing to get about only a 1/3 chance that it will all work.

Also, as I said before.. keep the male and females in separate tanks, they'll kill each other

humm have to find something to put him in! my little breeding tank has bambino guppys in at the mo. Also just noticed he's stomach is really swollen too. that mean anything?

it might be because your over-feeding them.. which would explain your females. a betta's stomach is about the size of it's eyeball, so. plus since they live in rural areas, they don't have a high metabolism.

I feed my bettas 5 pellets every 3 days. 2 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon.

just find some glass bowl or something to put the male betta in. He'll do great. I've had my two bettas in things smaller than 1 pint because I was cleaning their tank, and it's been 5 days.
