Title: Betta is sick again
Description: Velvet

DonnaFaye - January 9, 2007 04:31 PM (GMT)
My betta was sick a couple of weeks ago, but I thought it was dropsy or bacteria. He improved after 5 days antibiotic. Now I noticed he is at least halfway covered with gold specks. He is miserable, and it seems like velvet. :(

:sook:

How long does it take for the maracide to take effect? I want him to have relief, he is very uncomfortable. He twitches and stays at the bottom of the tank.

I have him on my desk, I hope that comforts him. At least he can have company. I also fed him a really good meal.

Anyone have any input? Thanks

I would try to maintain his water temperature and see you treatment through. A low traffic area may be best for him right now, however I would hold off on moving him much.

Well, I'm tired right now and about to go to sleep, so I'll edit my post later and add to it. But all I have to say right now is: Don't feel bad and think your making your betta get sick, because your not. The velvet most likely came because of being vulnerable after trying to fight off what it just had.

Have you tried adding aquarium salt to ease his stress and aid his healing? Do you do a weekly water change? Has he been eating?

Bettas are so cool and have great personalities. I hope he comes through!
