I'm taking a Marine Biology course at my school and we have a semester long project envolving keeping tanks of fish, both fresh water and salt water. While it seems like I'm being forced to have fish, i've actually always wanted them.
So hello! I'll keep an updated thing on how the tank is doing and i'll include pictures ^^ hope you'll keep a tab on me.

Wow, I didn't think anyone would comment! I don't know very much about the project yet. Right now we are trying to convince teachers to let us use their classrooms to house the fish.
What kind of fish should we get to begin with? Our teacher is letting us pick what goes in. I think its a 20 gallon tank.

hmm, well. Maybe gouramis, or a nice planted community tank.
I'd say.. get it heavily planted and try some killifish. Golden wonder or gardneri, maybe american flag fish
It might take a little more work but it's well worth it...
or maybe white cloud mountain minnows...

If you want easy breeders you could go with Endlers Livebearers, there are a lot of color strains as well as colony bread types. If your instructor wants to cover a genetics section you could try and start your own line from some colony bread stock.
You can get more info about them from the site in my sig.
