Title: How to help my breeding angels
Description: HELP!
Fishlips - January 27, 2007 12:48 AM (GMT)
Long story...my favorite angels spawned (first time) and completely stressed out my 90 gal tank mates. Eggs were on an unused power filter. Local fish store offered to raise the eggs, and sell my pair to a local angel breeder. I took them immediately. Welll, this morning I went to check them out and they were almost dead! I think they got nipped by two African cichlids and were put in a different water type. (they were in my discus tank) The store worker decided they weren't sick and put them in their own discus tank. Still not doing well tonight. Is bringing them back to my tank the best thing for them? Will it be too much moving around? Will the once bullied fish tear them apart upon their return? Will their feelers ever grow back??? Will I be putting the fish that stayed with me at risk by bringing them back? If anyone has great advice I sure need it by tomorrow. By the way, they think the eggs will make it and should hatch tomorrow. Awaiting your advice....

Crikey, now lets see here:
WHAT THE BLEEDING HELL IS A STORE WORKER DOING PUTTING ANGELS IN WITH AFRICANS!!!! :omg:
right now i have that out of my sysem...............
The fins of the angels should regrow so long as the very base of the fin has not been removed, but the patteren will not necassarilly be the same as it was on the adult. Prefferably you want to keep the angels seperate, aned in a STABLE water soruce similar to the discuss tank and treat them for stress. It will help if you give them places to hide and have low lighting to help them gain confidence.
feed them sparingly at this point as they may of lost their appetite and likely leave the food to go to waste.
with all this stress it may well take your angels sometime to recover, and it may of broken up their partnership for some time, so i can expect them to not be breeding for a good while
i hope this helps as my knowledge of new worlds is sketchy at best

Thanks for the good advice. I called the fish shop and was told my studly hunky male died last night. :rip: The female is still hanging in there. I'm sure what I'll do yet. I may have them nurse her back to health and then bring her back home. They hadn't checked on the babies yet - waiting for a call on it. I'm not even sure what my expectations should be here. They are a very reputable store and don't want to burn this bridge. I'm thinking I should just call it a scratch if they nurse her back for me and take care of the babies. More later.

Sadly i dont own either of those fish due to my last couple of years, but im glad you like em!
maybe pop into oddballs and predators and see what im gettin ^^
a pity bout your male, and if the female follows its an even sadder loss...........but there is a possible bright side to this.
you can raise your baby angels yourself to a reasonable size and keep the one you like the best, and swap the rest for some other angels so you can get a new pair fromed, and you dont have any inbreeding issues then either!
