BASIC MBU PUFFER INFORMATION

Mbu puffers get extremely large (hence the nickname, "Giant Puffer")
they get to around 25-30" and require tanks in upwards of 300 gallons minimum, 500 more desireable. The good thing about mbus versus fahakas is that they can be housed together as they are not as aggressive. Some even house them with other fish (though i would not).

Feeding is similar to other puffers. Bloodworms, shrimp, clams, prawns, snails, etc. should be given. Also, soaking the chunks in vitamins is recommended. My mbu's favorite food is clams. i just smack them with a hammer and remove one half of the shell. He gets to eat the meat and he also scrapes his teeth on the shell, so i never have had to cut his chompers.

These puffers are entirely FRESHWATER, and are found in Africa, Lake Tanganyika. Temp around 78, pH and hardness around neutralish.

Seriously, if you don't plan on giving this fish an enourmous tank, don't buy one. they can stress easily and can get a deformed tail and back if kept in aquaria too small.

Some places they are hard to find. It took me over a year to find one in my area, and i had to pay $180 bucks for him! Good luck to anyone venturing into the mbus. he's my absolute all time favorite fish
