he seems happy so far, we've had him for about a month. Hes had a small case of fin rot and we took care of that. We can use all of the advice we can get.

although his tank mate died recently, it was an algae eater. Like this one: user posted image

what would cause him to die? he looked very small and thin, maybe he starved to death? we put a little cucumber slice in the tank like we saw in the pet store but he never went near it.

we would like to have one in the tank with the betta but how do we keep him alive?

ive also been reading a book i picked up at wal mart, "aquariums for dummies." because well.. im a dummy when it comes to aquariums. lol.

its been set up for a good while, but ive never really noticed algae in the tank..ever. I guess the tank conditions dont favor algae growth.

cool tank, and nice chainsaw by the way.:D

when i had CAE's i used to feed them algae wafers and they would also eat blanched cucumber.

I had a cae that lived well until he was chased out of the tank, ditto the algae wafers.
I dig the Huskvarnya back ground. :D

ya the chainsaw has been there for a long time. its actually an old metal sign, i hung it there and then i put the entertainment center up then the fish tank. Makes for a different background. lol

OK, to start with you do not want a CAE!! they get MEAN when they reach about 4 inches, and they quit eating algae.
Mine was about 6 inches when it's tankmates had enough of him and evicted him, litterly, I found him in the dog's bed at the end of the tank.
They get to about 11 inches long and I personally wouldn't put one in with anything peacefull.
You could go with one of the more ornamental Pleco's to deal with any algae that you may see, but if you aren't seeing any algae at the moment you would have to suppliment with algae wafers or wait on getting one.
