So what do you do? There are 2 pet stores in my town. One is petco. And the fish/reptile folks are pretty knowlegable and and seem to care about what there doing even though I'm not big on cororate pet stores. They have strange regulations sometimes that bother me. But i am more then willing to buy there fish....mostly because i have no other choice

The other, is a local store. All of there furred animals seem to be in good health with good coats ect from what i can see, although they keep them in wire bottom cages which I don't agree with.

The fish however are in horide shape. Several tanks with ick and visably ding fish. Many with fin rot. they tanks are obviously not cleaned well if at all. The two healthy fish I saw were a discus and a marine tang(surgeon fish). both were marked at 75 dollors (obviously for quick sell so they wouldnt get sick before being sold, the discus was a full grown wild caught in a dirty tank and the tang was in a 10 gallon mini marine tank, I know ive seen both these fish sell at 150 or more in other cities)

The reptiles are of poor color but i dont know enough about them to tell you how sick they are.

A quote from a young customer that frequents the resturant I work at, she said she used to work there, "I worked in reptiles and the supplier he baught from always brought in snakes far to younge to sell or covered in mites...." "They net 20 to 30 dead fish out of there tanks every morning."

What do you do?Are there animal cruelty laws about fish and reptiles in texas? Other then boycot what can you do...?

It makes me really mad too becasue they sell some fish I want that petco doesnt ussually carry.

I don't understand it. They seem so profitable too.
