Title: Illegal Fishing
Description: SO ANGRY!
DVSGRL - February 5, 2007 10:47 PM (GMT)
While Damian and I where chilling out on the pier at Phillip Island, there were a few men fishing.....
There was this one particular guy who kep't catching all the fish and what really angered me is that 95% of them were to small to keep and the way he killed them was cruel :cuss: :banghead: i cant remember the name of them now but they were way to small to keep and the other guys fishing thought the same thing.
He caught a port jackson which they are protected and he was going to keep it so damian and i went up to him and said "u cant keep this its a prtected fish you need to chuck him back in" and he cracked it a little and just threw him viciously back in.
I felt like grabbing him and chucking him in! :cuss:
He caught a baby snapper and also kept that :cuss:
He caught a flat head which is all well and good but the way he just chucked him down on the pier which pathetic and disrespectful, mind you he didnt even put him in a bucket of water so he just suffocated.
I know this may be all part of fishing but not only is he taking them out of his home but his being cruel at the same time- dunno if didn't being a sook, i just found it a little heart breaking :rip:

That kind of shit pisses me off, there are laws about limit size for a reason, to ensure that there are still fish for our kids and grandkids to catch later!

that does piss me off . i take my lads fishing and at the end of the day i teach them respect and put the fish back carefully . these men are not fisherman they are just plain idiots!

Yeh its not me to sit there and not say or do anything when im angry or furious about something.
I was just giving him dirty looks all night and speaking loudly to Damian on how pissed i am at his behavour on treating the fish and keeping them when they are to small. :cuss:
Kinda spoiled my chill out time on the pier......
What really pissed me off is that after he caught the tiny snapper he was on the phones to his mate bragging about it. I couldnt understand too much though cause it was in chinese or something
WHERE ARE THE FISHIERIES WHEN YOU NEED THEM!!!!!!!!!

Thats why you CALL them. They cant patrol 1000's of kms of beaches, piers, Jetties, other fishing zones, and open ocean. They do have a call center. The fines are quite good, so its actually hilarious to watch.
Down here its FisheriesSA or something, I carry a brochure in my tackle box and their number in my phone so if I do see something, I can report it.
:drunk:

 who can i call at 2am in the morning? Are they even open at that time?? Plus i have credit on my phone which i only had $4 of at the time  i wouldn't of been able to finish off the convo.........
In Australia i have actually seen many many times the fisheries coming aboard and checking what everyone has caught, if its the right size, amount etc....
How long does it take them to come down anyway?

Pretty sure its only the one pier at Phillip Island, all the rest of the beaches waves are far to big to fish in.
Get this though, we started to hang around with these other guys that were fishing and the next thing the other guys phone starts ringing and he starts to brag that he caught a Snapper, the guy who we were hanging around with just said, "mate, i wouldnt be telling anyone that I caught a snapper that small" that cracked us up.

Rofl. Way to insult his fishing skills, he caught a small snapper, xD.
