ok, so, last night i filled up my 10 gallon aquarium holding one killie, and a bunch-a-plants, and, well, the fish had 1/2 and inch to get out of, and mannaged to do it, and, i found em' next to my computer, nearly completly dry(about 1 or 2 hours later), but, when i tuched him, he jumped around, so, i threw him back in the aquarium, and, was amased to see that he is still alive to this moment.
all i did was put 1 plus another half dose of stress coat. the only problem that i can see is that the tail fin hasn't expanded all the way. still seems to be swimming around, and eating.
so, it has put a new light on killie fish for me.

Most impressive for sure, sounds like you have things well in hand.

well, it recovered within about 6 days, and since then i moved the lil' guy to my 50 gallon and he seems a lot happier than he was in the 10 gallon. he has been in there for about 2 weeks and is doing fine.

an update. I found him behind the aquarium today, very dry a crisp in fact. i noticed he wasn't in there the night before, but couldn't find him on the ground in the darkness. so i found him behind it.
Lesson learned, if you have even the smallest gap between the hood and the open air, they'll find it. :rip:

A harsh lesson but true, but i can perhaps shed a little light on the hardiness of the fish~!
In their natural habitat these guys spawn towards the end of the wet season as the water starts to decrease in level. Killis can be found alive and healthy in the tiniest of mudpuddles, and will leap in an attempt to get to the next puddle to hopefully find a mate! so it explains a little about his eagerness to make a leap of faith as it seems.
