so for valentines day i found a 55 gallon tank for 20 bucks, so i made the boyfriend buy it.

because im broke as a joke, and have no money for filtration/heating.

A standard "55" can make a great "mini-community" of Tanganyikan Cichlids.

...too bad you didn't pick it up...even though they don't have as much bottom area as I'd like, the 55 standard is still a very versatile tank size.

You could run it with DIY sponge filters for a while, that's what I did until I could afford filtration for my tanks, the 55gal and both 10's all still have their DIY sponge filters running along with the HOB's I finally got. :laugh: I think I have a total of $10.00 in supplies for them, with extras left over.

i might actually have enough for her, i have like...
2 - 10 gallon filters, a 20 gallon filter, and a wierd sponge filter, that's for up to 12 gallons, so, perhaps i can just run a bunch of 'em, and run up the electric bill...
but shit, i don't pay for it anyways.
