Title: Fish Fairy
Description: Red Tail Tin Foil Barbs

OK, last night the Fish Fairy (my wife) dropped off two Red Tail Tin Foil Barbs on the stairs and then left. I had no idea they were coming. There was just this bag on the stairs. I looked in and... there were these two GIANT THINGS in there. Fish, yes I could tell that. Big fish, I could tell that too. But the bag was pretty foggy and I have to admit I'm not the fish expert I should be so... "Geez, what are these? Jack Dempseys? Barracuda??? What has she done!?!" But she was gone and I don't have a quarantine tank so... in they went. I told myself, "She wouldn't get something that would eat everybody... I hope." Anyway, here's the deal. I've been researching these guys but unfortunately the info. is varried. So far I'm told they live between 2 to 8 years. They'll grow somewhere between 7" to 14". They're jumpers. You should have at least three. They're fine on just flake food (even I'm not that dumb) and they need flake, pellet and other stuff. The only thing everybody seems to agree on is they get along with other fish well and they're big time schoolers. So, anybody raise these guys? Know how to sex them? They gonna be OK?
Here's my tank
45h (I know, I know... It's too small. I'm workin' on it.)
Penguin 110 & 150 HOB's
UGF's
Penguin 660 powerhead
AquaClear 30 powerhead
100 w underwater heater (forgot brand name)
Challenger & WaveCastle air pumps
The Fish
2 goldies (fish fairie)
2 Black Skirt Tetras
1 Silver Tip Tetra
And of course, the 2 new guys. Red Tail Tin Foil Barbs
note: these are some of the most beautiful fish I've ever seen. And fast, Wow!

Wish i had a fish fairy.........then again walking down ther stairs to something like a stonefish or alligator gar in my barefeet wouldnt get me well accquainted with the fairy :lmao:
Well in anycase Tinnies, id not keep them with small fish, after most fish will eat anything that fits in their mouth!
These guys id feed a mix of flake, pellet, spirulina and an odd dash of bloodworm to give a varied diet.
Tinnies are very skittish, be carefull not to startle them, ive seen them damage themselves when the lights come on as it spooks them and they collide with wood/rocks in the tank!
Yeah id err on the side of caution and plan for the ultimate MAX size, better safe than sorry eh? and if it turns out they arent that big you could add some more or another type of barb, my personal favorite is Barbus Arulius!
