Title: Angels still very aggressive
Description: When should I worry?

My two angels, one golden and one quarry veil tail, are frequently at each other. Glaive had said to watch out for lip locking, and I haven't seen locking, but they do lip bounce. So far I haven't seen any sign of injury, but I don't know if it takes a while for them to sort everything out (it's been about six weeks). I read on one of the TFC past topics that some people say to keep them in odd #'s, but I can't see how another one would help the situation. I'm pretty sure it's a male and female from the vents, (the golden is larger and rounder the male is pointier and smaller) but the female seems to be more aggressive. Sometimes they hang together okay, but more often then not they're picking on each other and chasing each other around. Do I need to put a divider in? I also have five Jumbo Danios and two waterfall shrimp in the tank.
Thanks!

Hmmm, The Trouble with Angels... Sorry, couldn't resist the old Haily Mills movie title. Been a long time since I had any Angels but as I recall there's only a couple of reasons they become aggresive. A lack of space and hiding places is one. How big is your tank? Do they have places to hide? Rock formations, bogwood maybe. You could try adding some if they don't. Another possibility is they're spawning. If so, they'll start cleaning up the sides of the aquarium or decorations maybe to make a spot to lay their eggs. That's all I can think of at the moment. Hope it helps.

Sorry the tank's a 55, so they have lots of room. They have a bunch of plants too, so there's some places to semi-hide. But if they're spawning they'll fight each other? It's possible that that's the case, they are displaying their vents, at least the female is pretty prominently. What do you think?
Thanks

I'm no expert but it sounds like it could be courtship behavior, I'll let those more informed give definative answers.

Yeah, since they haven't wiped each other out yet that's the only thing left. Looks like you're going to be a... Godfather? :drunk:

Grand-godmother actually they "belong" to my nine year old. Thanks for the great info guys, I feel much better. It's nice to know that humans aren't the only creatures who are complete idiots when it comes to dating. Wonder if they read "The Rules"...
