I believe this to be the Macaw cichlid which is found in the Nicaraguan lakes in Central America, however can anyone tell me something about these and tell me what other fish can you put in with them. Thanks.

these guys usually max out at around 10 inches. the females tend to be the more vividly colored of the 2 sexes. aggression seems to be low but they can become territorial especially if you have a breeding pair. i would say a 75 gallon 4 foot tank would be in order for a pair. these guys are relatively peaceful so tankmates of a somewhat smaller stature and similar temperment would be advisable. i would like to add that i haven't as of yet kept these fish. all the info i gave you i obtained through online resources.

P.S. if you're tired of your discus send a couple to me.:D
