Title: Back to work blues... um, browns

Brads - July 23, 2007 04:11 PM (GMT)
OK, give it to me straight. I can take it. (I think) Just got back from 2 weeks vacation to find my aponogeton all brown and dying in my Betta tank at work. It's still got a couple of green leaves and the java moss is fine so I'm hoping it will come back. Ummm, my guess is that nobody turmed the tank light on for 2 weeks and that's what happened. Stupid me for not actually telling somebody to do it. Guess I just figured they would. :banghead: Hope I don't lose it. Those big old leaves swaying in the currents are pretty cool. My Betta digs 'em too. Well, hiding under them anyway.

well...I'm not positive this'll help, but if you haven't had them for more than a year, i think that it could be possibly that they are dieing off to come back in a few months. At least if these are the plants that I have i think that's what's happening. However, it could also be that no one turned on the lights. ;)

Some one else please post as well, because I'm not 100% positive about this. :P

PS: THANK YOU for posting some thing in the planted tank section, I've been waiting to share my knowledge for the last few months.

Update: All the leaves that were brown have disolved or been removed. There are still 3 good ones and one that may or may not make it. Still, it seems to be hanging inn there. :woo:

Well, the weekend's passed and I think my little plant buddy is going to be OK. It just put out a new leaf!!! woo-hoo Must have been those idiots at work not turning the light on that caused the problem. "mental note: get light timer  "

you don't have to get the timer from the LFS, if you go to a local hardware storeyou can get a digital timer cheaper that the ones at the LFS. (hardware store meaning either ACE, Home Depot, Lowes, or mom and pop stores.)

I got mine at Lowes for i think 9.99. it's simple and works 24/7.

Yeah, I've got one on my tank at home. Ten bucks and no worries. What a deal! Seems I kinda overlooked my tank at work though. (don't tell my Betta, he'll be p_ssed) Better take care of it before you know who finds out. :BP: Thanks for the info! :)
