Title: i really like these plants now! :P

FBG - August 4, 2007 05:55 PM (GMT)
ok, so i have a few pictures of my pond, well, rather, the plants in and around my pond. (i haven't done much seeing as we're moving after this summer.) so, i have two dwarf lilies in my pond...and well, that was a mistake. LOL they have nearly the whole pond's surface covered. and nearly every day a new flower, so I'm pretty happy about that. at the moment i have 4 flowers open and 3 more on the way! and i don't know if you guys remember when i had a lilie in my 50 gallon aquarium? well, it was sending 2 leaves up every day... well, now it's sending up like 5 or 6 every day! I am very happy with it! here are the pictures.

here are older pictures.

i was thinking...is it hard to get these to produce seed, I don't see hardly any insect or other wise pollinating. what is the best way to do this, if you have ever ran across a website that tells you how to, or you have personal experience I'd love to know how to
make these produce seed.

oh, and the white flowers are supposed to be pink, I was looking at the container i bought it in and yeah, it's supposed to be a pinkish red. weird...

Beautiful pics Tyler.

As for their reproduction, if I remember correctly AND if they are like their full size relatives I believe you have to split the rhizomes or roots to propagate new plants. Do some research and call it one of this years science projects for school.

I've tried to take the rhizomes out...but they are pretty firmly rooted to the bottom (which just has wast and a little dirt from the rain that runs into the pond).

I don't know where, but it was a while ago, but i read somewhere that you can pollinate them and even tho they are hybrids the seeds will be plantable and fertile. (though, not all of them.

I'll try and finnish this tomorrow, kind of tired now, not thinking all the way...
