Title: Getting a Garfish to feed
Oddball - November 3, 2007 11:44 PM (GMT)
Honestly im a tad stumped, got a new spotted gar (florida gar) [Lepisosteus osseus] and its being fussy about feeding, wont take worms, blood worm, chopped worm, prawn or mussel, to be honest i think its laughing at me! Im not overly concerned at the moment as it is very very fat and can probably go a fortnight without food before i start to worry so any advice would be good, cheers

what about soaking the food in some sort of garlic extract like the ones made by kent or seachem. i used garlic guard by seachem for my finicky eaters.

Try tossing in a few of your guppy fry.

Stick your finger in the garlic stuff and wiggle it around in the fish tank..
But seriously, try what they set. Maybe put a cloth over the tank so he can't see any movement outside of the aquarium. You know, eat in privacy.

Actually got it to feed, i had to add two more into the tank and they are happy as larry now, added them a few more plants and they just root about picking up the bloodworm that drops into the foiliage

Well.... I'd rather pay $67.50 for 3 live fish than $22.50 for 1 dead/dieing one!
