Title: the base plant for my 290 gallon pond.

well, today I thought I'd clean out my pond. because well, it needed it. the lily pads started dieing recently, and all the leaves from out trees have finished falling, so it was time. Well...I started with my lily pads, I have two of them in there. here are some of the pics of the smallest one that is only 2 seasons old.

and then there is the other one...well, this guy weighs about 30 Lbs, I very nearly fell in while trying to pull it out. lol well, here are some pictures of the one that is 3 seasons old. there are 18 new sprouts besides the two main ones. Its amazing.

It's about 10" long, and it took nearly two hands to reach all the way around at the base.

Holy crap Tyler!

Awesome growth, are you going to divide them in the spring?

yeah, is the spring time the best/only time it's good to split them?

whats the best thing to put them in to keep them from floating to the top of the pond and dieing over the winter. rather, is there a mesh basket that I could buy from a pat store to steady them to the bottom again until their roots grab hold again?

Is that growth normal, or is that over what you'd expect?
