Title: Snow Snow Beautiful Snow!
cich1 - January 3, 2008 06:16 PM (GMT)
yeah we are getting our first major storm system in tonight. it's moving in from the pacific and colliding with a cold Alaskan front. :woo: :woo: :drunk:
the upper elevations in the Sierras could see 3' to 5' of accumulation in the next couple of days. :drool1: :drool1: the only bummer is the roads probably won't stay open for long. :cuss: i may have to wait until Monday to get some boarding in.

LMAO You just can't wait to eat snow can you?
Enjoy yourself, I'll be at home where it's warm! :drunk:

LMAO, yeah you know me well.:D
i am waking up at 5 tomorrow to check road conditions. if they are open i'm going!
i went on tuesday and had a great day. i'm on a newer board(a 173 Eldo!) and have new boots as well. tomorrow will be sweet powder runs all day if i can get there. it's supposed to get nasty though, they have issued a blizzard warning for the Sierras due to high winds and heavy snowfall. hell the lifts may even be on wind hold. i'll see in the morning.:)

well, i didn't make it. got a 1/4 of the way and turned around. they have gusts on the mountain of 140 MPH! my truck was getting tossed around the highway like it was made out of cardboard.:( now i'll spend the rest of the day bummed.:(

Sorry you didn't get to go.
I hope that when you do get to go you have better luck than the fools here are having! In the last week a group of 6 (2 families of 3) snowmobilers, an engaged couple of snowboarders, and 2 guys skiing have all gotten lost and one guy got killed by skiing off the back side of a ski resorts lift area. The 2 families and the engaged couple have both been rescued.
Do me a favor and stay in the open areas, those fools were all in closed areas.

lol, this reminds me of an older cartoon of a family called Rockets. two kids went snow boarding on the closed half of the mountain, and got lost, and was rescued by his father...not like they would let the father go back there in real life, but I guess it's in context.

oh, and even more on the topic, that same storm gave us .17th of an inch of rain at my house... but next to the mountains it got 2 inches...it's not fair. LOL my Friend in Monterey said he got 2 inches of rain and his mother...I guess exaggerated about the wind speed being 100 MPH on the coast... lol

sorry it took so long to respond, this site is loading so damn slow and i had to run out and deal with a problematic customer. they were reporting gusts up to 145 mph on the mountain on friday. i went boarding on this past monday and had sort of a bad day. the snow was heavy and wind blown so it sucked balls. i never go out of bounds so you don't have to worry Dot.;) i do like running through the trees though.:D

Sorry you didn't get to go.
I am glad to hear that you stay in the boundaries, the officials have called off the search for the two guys lost in Wolf Creek but the families are still looking... they have been lost for 10 days now.
Stay safe out there and keep your cell on ya, that's how the other two groups were found.
cich1 - January 14, 2008 07:48 PM (GMT)
yeah, danger is around every corner and if you do something stupid you're up to you neck in it before you know what's happening.
FBG - January 15, 2008 10:37 PM (GMT)
it's truly not hard to survive in that kind of climate (snowy mountain) if you were skiing, because you have your heavy jacket, you have your ski poles, your board. if you implement what you have (the items I just listed) you can survive...perhaps not easily, but it could be done. don't swaet, don't panic and start running until you are totally drained, and build a wind block to keep out the frigid wind. :P then try to find food...use the ski pole for a spear. :P
how's the weather there now? it's 60's during the day, but the damned sun makes it feel like 75....global warming is....wonderful I tell you...lol
cich1 - January 21, 2008 01:41 AM (GMT)
the weather is a bit unsettled now. we have a couple weak systems moving in and bringing alot of cold air with them. i'll be gone for a few days, i'm heading up to see if i can get a couple good days in. there's going to be alot of hard pack so we'll see how it goes.
cich1 - January 24, 2008 03:44 PM (GMT)
i got 3 wonderful awesome days of boardin' in. yeehaaw!
yesterday our last run we traversed across the mountain and down into a far less traveled area. 2 feet of pow and endless faceshots! i may be going back on friday.
